“… A maid?… But, you’re far too cute~” A small chuckle left him and he smiled brightly to the female. “My name’s Shinomiya Natsuki, it’s nice to meet you, May-rin~”
Mey-rin offered the young blond-haired man a bow, blushing behind her large, slightly skewed glasses. “Please sir, the pleasure is all mine! You are too kind to s-such a maid like myself!” She straightened trying hard to cover her blush and smile. “You must be a good guest of my young Lord, yes?”

The sun which pushed through clouds had brought up a slight more warmer atmosphere to the glum sitiation that took place, which seemingly did no more then enlighten the mortican bit by bit. But of course, the not-so-often emerging bright sky all did not matter to the mourners who would continually grieve onto the deceased.
The all too familiar woes of the mourners. Nothing new here~. No such miracles to grant the expectant.
Yet—
surprisinglythere had once occured one joyous day at a certain burial. Oh yes, none other then one tremendously rare miracle which had occured merely once in his secluded years of service. No other then once in his lifetime of being a funeral director. Ah, how could the mortican not forget that certain day.But really now~. A mere butler being granted the will to live again? How raaaather unusual.
Most definately it had been a rather intrigiuing occurance as well. The undertaker had his unresisting supsicions about the the idealistic butler. Many unhesitant questions had rised in his mind, and most seemingly anyone else who had known him, but there was one that struck up the most.
That infallible butler of the Earl’s… Who was he really~?
Coming back to the matter at hand, the mortican gently settled his long nailed fingers along her palm, giving a clasp of his offered hand that the maid had willingly accepted. Though, the mortican was in hopes that he would not startle her any further, despite his enjoyement of scaring people. She appeared to be a slight bit bewildered, or perhaps having a hint of fear starting to grow. A maid, hmm~? How rather relevant to what I was just thinking of. Regardless, I shan’t try to scare her. It just wouldn’t be polite in the slightest~
“Oh, that is quite alright. People are clumsy every now and then, are they not~? —Oh, but your welcome~~”
The mortican responds, seemingly not fully aware of her rather nervous state in mind. Who does she serve, I wonder? …Now that I think of it she does look a tad bit familiar~. Giving a curious glance towards the maid’s seemingly shy posture, he gives a mirthfully hinted grin.
“And what could your name be, Miss~?”
That man was simply not going to go away. Mey-rin was able to deduce that much, seeing as he stood there to continue his, what she called, ‘the weather talk’. He wanted to engage her in a conversation!
But he was soooooo creeeeepy.
Mey-rin is not a smart girl. All her life (up until this point), she was used as a tool in the political game of power. To keep her from understanding power and that she was used, her employers did not want her educated. They kept her dumb and ignorant, and it was a sad, pitiful matter. It wasn’t until recent that she had learned the English alphabets. Sebastian had been so patient in teaching, and she loved the times he spent with her. So Mey-rin began to read books. Her slow pronouncation of words were drawled, almost pathetic, but she loved the words. And she loved to read.
But being able to read didn’t mean she was smart either.
So when the creepy man asked her who she was, she did not think much of what the answer could mean to the man when she answered.
“M-my…. my name is Mey-rin.” She stood up, all of the flowers regathered in her hand. “I am the maid to the
Earl Phantomhive.”
There was no harm done in doing so, was there~? Perhaps it was just his prone curiosity towards humans that was the reason for his uncommon social behavior. Or maybe his lonesome boredom had resulted in needing for some entertaining social-interactions. For whatever the reason, he did not give much thought of how awkwardly unnerving his mannerisms were to most people. Fitting into the human world was not all that easy, afterall. Especcially with having eccentric habbits which he did no little to hide.
The human atanomy was naturally something the mortican would be fully known to, but oddly enough he would usually deem to have a more deeper understanding and interest of the human function then most scientists or doctors would be thought to have. Collecting the souls of the many verging-death indivuduals for years did indeed make his inquisitive conclusions begin to steepen afterall. The works of funeral directing merely gave him a more closer chance of examing and expieramenting with the specimens he had once reaped upon many many times. Though his ways of doing so always proved to be quite unusual, especcially for his purpose of doing so. A perputually grinning and ominous fellow is most likely up to no good anyhow.
“The Earl Phantomhive, you say~?” His interests perked, as the emotion of joy had shown soley through his grin, greatly spreading across his expression as if a smile such as his were nearingly too big even for him, although it had seemingly not appeared of much a diffrence.
“Ahhh yes~. Why, It may have seemed as if I hadn’t known, but somehow I knew that I had probably seen you somewhere once before, Miss Mey-rin~.. But anyhow, being the one currently holding the title of thePhantomhive’s maid must be quiiiiite the duty, is it not~?”
“Not to start any confusion, dear~, But you see, I too know of the dear Phantomhives~.
The Queen’s collared dogMilord is quite the determined little Earl, if I do say so myself~”
As soon as it was known that she was the maid to the Earl, the pale creepy man’s voice raised an octave, as if he was smiling or something. Really. It was suspicious really, and Mey-rin could feel the hairs on her spine standing straight. He laughs too often! He seems to always find something amusing, like a secret joke as he is always stifling his smile!
Who is he?
She swore she had never seen this man before but he seems to insist that they have! Really now! But if they did, under what pretense? Mey-rin rarely left the mansion at all. There was only one maid to attend to the entire grounds, so there work was constant. There was no way that they could have met in the town before. Could they? The maid racked her brain, trying to summon the man’s character to mind, but all that came up were well dressed nobles whose names were lost to her as they came one and plenty. He certainly didn’t seem to fit into the party of the lavishly dressed guests of the Earl’s though! Maybe he was just missing in her memory?
More importantly, why did he talk so familiar about her Young Master?
With an embarrassed face, the maid looked up from the ground and up at the odd man. “So s-sorry, Sir… forgive my shy memory, if it is that bad at all, but who are you? I don’t remember you at all!”
